remakes are rarely worth the bother. rarely...
in almost every case, the time and money of audiences and filmmakers alike would be better spent on something else. True Grit (2010) is the rare exception, a worthy revision, and a couple hours well spent. Joel and Ethan Coen’s western is thoroughly endearing. it is not outfitted in their usual droll aspect, so much as it rides on traditional story craft. assuming you can abide the gunplay...
